Food Drive — Make a Move for Hunger

Thank you for supporting our 2015 Make a Move for Hunger campaign. The food drive has ended, but please continue to support your local food bank or the Community Food Bank of New Jersey.

One in six Americans struggle with hunger and nearly 400,000 children in New Jersey live in food insecure homes. Beginning the Saturday before Mother’s Day, May 9, we are launching a week-long Move For Hunger food drive in partnership with The National Association of Senior  Move Managers to help mothers feed their families. The drive will raise funds and food for the Community Food Bank of New Jersey

From May 9–16, we are encouraging participants to right-size their homes while supporting those in need and donate non-perishable food items in honor of their mothers. Participants can drop off donated items at the locations listed below. And, to kick-off the drive, the Brookdale ShopRite in Bloomfield, New Jersey will host a Pre-Mother’s Day collection on Saturday, May 9 from 2–6 pm.

Suggested food items for donation include:

  • soups

  • non-perishable items such as

  • canned fruits

  • vegetables

  • canned meats and fish

  • peanut butter

  • shelf-stable milk

  • powdered and infant formulas
