Reduce Clutter: Recycle Your Greeting Cards

Birthday Card http://www.themavinsgroup.comDo you have a stash of greeting cards you’ve received and collected through the years? If so, you can donate your cards to St. Jude’s Ranch for Children. They recycle greeting cards and turn them into new cards, which people can purchase.

The program is operated by Kids’ Corp., a program for the children at St. Jude’s Ranch to learn entrepreneurial skills. The program was conceived more than 30 years ago, and to date, they’ve received more than a million cards!

The children make new cards by removing the front and attaching a new back. They have an increased need for birthday and thank you cards, but they take all card submissions.

You may send your cards year round, but please review these tips before sending in your donation:

  • All types of greeting cards are accepted, including Christmas
  • Check to be sure the backside of the front is clear of writing as only the front of the card is used
  • Hallmark, Disney, and American Greeting cards cannot be accepted
  • Preferred size is 5″ x 7″ or smaller
  • For large quantities, use a flat-rate box from the U.S. post office—it’s the least expensive way!

Mail the cards you’d like to donate to:
